Each semester more than 1,500 Iowa State students work for ISU Dining. Working with us is convenient, helps you graduate with less debt, and puts work experience on your resume. It’s also a great way to make new friends and conveniently balance work with school. Previous experience is not necessary.

Payroll Cycle

ISU Dining employees are paid twice each month. The amount you receive will vary with the number of hours you work. Student pay rates start at $13 per hour and bakery, catering, and Gentle Doctor Café positions start at $14 per hour. ISU Dining employs students who live on and off campus, offering the same great benefits! Student employees are paid twice monthly. If you work a minimum of a three-hour shift, you’ll also receive a free meal. All around convenient!

Bakery Production and dish room roles. Bakery located south of Campus Town, near Wallace and Wilson Hall on the corner of Hayward and Storm Street. Bakery employees start at $14 per hour.
Cafes and Restaurants Barista, cashier, front counter, and grill roles. Gentle Doctor Café near Vet Med employees start at $14 per hour.
Catering Set-up, server, partender, porter, and cook roles. Catering employees start at $14 per hour.
Dining Centers Food prep, dining room, grill, pizza, deli, dish room, cleaning, and cashier roles. Conveniently located near residence halls.
Memorial Union Food Court Cashier, dining room, dish room, food prep, server, upscale deli roles. Located on Lincoln Way near Buchanan and Geoffroy Hall.
Food Stores Warehouse, delivery, and transportation roles. Located on central campus in Friley Hall near Lake LaVerne.

Graduate Students

All graduate students need to obtain permission from the graduate college before beginning employment with ISU Dining. Once employed, graduate students will need to follow the ISU policy which outlines limitations to hours of work per week for domestic and international graduate students.
